The Silent Flow: Why I Traded the Needle for the Lustre of Silk & Egyptian Cotton
The creative journey is rarely a straight line.
For years, many of you knew me through the rhythmic, tactile world of needle felting. But as my own path evolved, I found myself searching for something different—a way to create that didn't just fill the time, but quietened the mind.
I found that peace in the world of Heritage Silk Art.
Finding the "No Self-Talk" Zone
There is a specific kind of magic that happens when you work with 100% Mulberry Silk. Whether I am wrapping a delicate Chanhua petal or stitching with the luminous glow of Rosace threads, the world goes quiet.
I call it the "Silent Flow." When the focus is entirely on the lustre of the thread and the precision of the stitch, the "inner chatter" stops. There is no room for the fog of daily life—only the next movement, the next colour, and the next moment of calm.
From My Studio to Yours
This shift wasn't just about my own art; it was about what I wanted to bring to the MillyRose community. I wanted to move away from the "mass-produced" and back toward the Artisan.
Every item now in the boutique—from the 104 shades of artisan silk ribbons to our professional Egyptian cotton threads—has been chosen because it facilitates that same "Silent Flow" for you.
The Journey Continues
As I sit in my studio in Spain, finishing pieces like the Zen Cat, I am reminded that art is a form of healing. It’s a way to reclaim our focus and create something heirloom-quality in a fast-paced world.
Whether you are a long-time friend from my felting days or a new creator discovering silk for the first time, I invite you to pick up a needle, choose a color that speaks to your soul, and find your own silence.
